Los Angeles Traffic Violation Lawyers

Arrested or Ticketed for a Traffic Offense in Los Angeles or Hollywood?

Traffic offenses not only carry serious penalties such as fines, probation, and potential jail time, but they can also result in the loss of freedom through revocation of driving privileges. It is important to find an attorney in Hollywood or Los Angeles who understands the importance of this privilege as well as the complexities and difficulties in dealing with vehicle laws and codes and the cumbersome process of DMV and administrative hearings. Some examples of traffic offenses that we have experience dealing with at the Criminal Defense Group include:

DUI and DWI

Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrests can result in serious jail time, monetary penalties, and loss of driving privileges. These charges are especially difficult since many times DUI or DWI is the first crime a person has been charged with.

Hit and Run

A person who flees the scene of a crime can be charged with hit and run, which is punishable by an additional term of imprisonment of five years added onto the penalty for the original crime. The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in damage to any property must immediately stop at the nearest safe location that does not impede traffic.  If a driver fails to do this he or she will face a penalty of a misdemeanor, carrying a fine and possible jail time of up to six months.

Vehicular Manslaughter

Whenever a person is involved in an accident in which the driver is suspected of causing another person's death through negligence or violation of law, they may be charged with vehicular manslaughter, a very serious crime that can result in a felony conviction with penalties ranging from probation, loss of driving privileges, monetary fines, and jail time.

Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License

One’s privilege to drive can be suspended or revoked for a variety of reasons such as reckless driving, alcohol or drug abuse, disability, or being declared a “negligent” driver. Once an individual's license has been suspended or revoked they will no longer be permitted to drive. When a person violates their suspension by driving with a suspended or revoked license, they could face criminal charges, punishable by probation, jail time, and substantial fines.

Traffic Tickets

At the Criminal Defense Group we defend people who've been issued a traffic ticket for the following types of moving violations: speeding, reckless driving, running a red light, failing to stop at a stop sign, racing, drag racing, driving with expired vehicle registration, etc.
